Learn Online for Free with FÁS at your Local Library
http://faslibraries.learnonline.ie
How does it work?
All of the courses are available on-line at participating libraries and all of the courses are free! Once registered to an online course you can also work from home if you have a broadband connection. This is a wonderful opportunity for people to develop their skills at their own pace or through attending structured sessions with the FÁS facilitator at the libraries each week. The facilitator will be present at the library to assist participants familiarise themselves in using a computer and to support their progress through a suite of online courses hosted on a dedicated eLearning website. There is a continuous intake to this programme and people are encouraged to call to their participating libraries for further information on how they can participate in the programme.
Who is it for?
The programme is open to all learners (over 18 years) and will assist people who have:
- Little or no IT skills (through workshops in the library delivered by a facilitator).
- Some IT skills, for learners who wish to learn on line but may need some assistance (also through workshops)
- Higher levels of IT skills for learners who can access online courseware remotely and email the facilitator for support if required
Come along to our Information Evenings
Information Evenings will take place in participating libraries and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Here you will have an opportunity to have a chat with the FÁS representatives who will answer any questions you may have with regard to the programme and the courses available.
Participants are encouraged to come along and register their interest in the programme – which is delivered free of charge – and to partake in what has already proven to be a wonderful learning experience nationwide. This project also allows the Kildare Library Service to reinforce their role in lifelong learning and education.
This programme is already running in Athy Community Library.
