Ennis Book Festival 2008

2008 was the second year for this festival and it was a weekend of delights. Book clubbers gathered from all over Ireland in Ennis for three days of interviews, readings, workshops, walking tours of Ennis and much more.

Guidance was given on the ten books you should read, sources for choosing book club books, and how to read fiction and poetry. A symposium on memoir as a genre was discussed by Brian Keenan, Nuala O'Faolain and Hugo Hamilton with a fascinated and interactive audience.

The atmosphere was buzzing, with more more than 500 women and about 10 men rushing from one venue to the next to catch up with the sessions they had booked. The weekend was interspersed with chocolate tasting in a little corner shope called "Chocolat". Yummy, it all tasted like "more please".

Kildare County Library took part in the sponsorship of this event and was delighted to be able to distribute tickets to the competition winners.
