Library Services
For over 100 years there has been a library service in Naas town with the first library opening on the 1st November 1905 in the Town Hall. The Library has occupied various buildings over the years, and is now housed in a modern purpose-built building on the canal harbour and can be accessed via Basin Street or the Newbridge Road. Currently, Naas Community Library provides a vibrant and varied library and arts service to the 20,000+ population of Naas Town. The library has dedicated adult and children's sections as well as a study/reference area and IT services area. Within the children's and adult's sections there is a further break down into fiction and non-fiction sections as well as different formats, different reading levels and different genres.
In a recent Public Library User Survey, below are some comments people made about Naas library:
“Very well run facility. Staff most professional and helpful. An asset to Naas town”
“- excellent staff – very organised – a big plus to the Naas area. – we wish we could get this standard of service elsewhere in our day to day experiences”
“ I find this library very user friendly. Welcomes children and the staff are very helpful. It is a lovely warm environment to come to.”
“I find this library to be excellent in every way.”
The library has a very spacious gallery on a mezzanine floor. This can be used for exhibitions, lectures and other community events. We also have a board room that can be booked for meetings, workshops, smaller audience lectures and classes. Both facilities are available for any non-profit making community event and it is our policy that any events hosted here incur no charge for audience/attendees.
