LEIXLIP TOWN COUNCIL
ADOPT AN AREA SCHEME 2009
Leixlip Town Council, in association with Leixlip Tidy Town
Association, has launched a scheme to encourage groups and
organisations to “take ownership” of public areas
in the town and improve or maintain them.
The point of the scheme is to make sure that areas outside
of housing estates or own grounds are looked after by someone.
The “adopted area” cannot be within your housing
estate or grounds and must have more public usage. Attached
is a list of potential areas which you can choose from or
you can nominate your own.
There will be a competition to determine the best “adopted
area” in September.
Intel and Hewlett Packard have generously offered to support
this scheme in two ways:
- Intel Involved, their volunteer programme, will
get six departments in the company to adopt areas around
the town
- Intel and Hewlett Packard will sponsor
an incentive scheme for groups to enter the “Adopt
an Area” Scheme
and a prize fund
Prizes and incentives are:
- A voucher worth €200
for either Leixlip Garden Centre OR Leixlip Tool Hire on
registering with the scheme
- Reflective vests with the “Adopt
an Area” logo
for your volunteer crew up to a maximum of 10 per group
- Generous
prizes to winner and runner up in each category
- A special
prize of vouchers for Gamesworld for the winning youth
group (U18s)
How to enter:
- Complete the registration form attached
and returned by 12th June 2009
- Submit a photograph
of the area as it looks now (essential!)
- Indicate how many
people will be involved in your group & provide
names where possible
Entries will be approved by steering committee and categorised according to scale of work. There will be a special category for youth groups (U18s). You will be notified if your “adopted area” is suitable and given your voucher and vests. Then its Enjoy the work and Good Luck
Closing date for registration is 12th June 2009.
Registration form is available here.

Leixlip Town Council will have no responsibility for the
projects other than payment of the incentives and prizes.
Responsibility for appropriate insurance cover rests with
