A heritage evening entitled ‘The Aylmer Memorial event’ will be held in St Peter’s Church, Donadea on Saturday 4 October at 7 pm. It will commemorate Sir Gerald George Aylmer and the legacy he left to the general community of county Kildare and neighbouring counties. Gerald George was responsible for developing Donadea Demesne between the years of 1816 and 1878. His building projects and estate development include what is now Donadea Forest Park one of the most popular attractions in county Kildare.

Members of the Aylmer family will attend and address the event. This will be followed by Naas local historian Gerald McCarthy who will give an illustrated presentation entitled ‘Big Houses of Kildare’.

It is hoped the heritage evening will become an annual event commemorating the legacy of Gerald George Aylmer.

The event is open to the public and is free of charge. Entry via stone archway NEAR main entrance to Donadea forest park.
