Road Infrastructure
The primary objective of the Transportation Department is to provide a well-maintained public road network subject to financial and human resource constraints. County Kildare has an extensive network of roads totalling some 2,250 kilometres as follows:
| Motorways | 127 |
| National Primary | 11 |
| National Secondary | 17 |
| Regional Roads | 482 |
| Local Roads | 1613 |
This extensive and heavily trafficked road network requires Kildare County Council to continue to invest heavily in road maintenance and improvement, on all categories of road in the county, over the coming years.
