Temporary Closing of Roads

Notice of Intention

Roads Act, 1993

Roads Regulations 1994

Kildare County Council, on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland, gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 that it intends to close:

The M4 westbound between Junction 7 (Maynooth) and Junction 8 (Kilcock)

Dates of the closure: Monday, 29 June to Friday, 24 July 2020                                   

Hours of closure:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 21.30 hrs – 06.30 hrs

Saturday 21.00 hrs – 08.00 hrs

Sunday 21.00 hrs – 06.30 hrs

The closure is required to facilitate the resurfacing of the pavement.

M4 Diversion route:

Divert from the M4 at Junction 7 (Maynooth), take the fourth exit from the roundabout onto the R406. Proceed along the R406 for approximately 2km. At the traffic lights take a left turn onto the R148 and continue straight for approximately 100m. At the traffic lights, take a right turn. Continue straight for 200m and at the next set of traffic lights, take a left turn. Continue straight for approximately 5.5km and at the next set of traffic lights, take a left turn onto the R125. At the next roundabout, take the second exit from the roundabout and remain on the R125. At the next roundabout, take the second exit from the roundabout onto the R407.Traffic to take the first exit from the roundabout joining the M4 Motorway using the westbound merge slip ramp. 

Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the council and An Garda Síochána. Emergency access will be maintained at all times. Any objections/observations should be lodged in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Roads, Transportation & Public Safety Department, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or by email to roadssubmissions@kildarecoco.ie on or before 5.00 p.m. on Monday, 25 May 2020.
