Athy Local Area Plan

Invitation for Submissions on the Issues Paper for the Draft Athy Local Area Plan 2019 - 2025

Notice is hereby given that Kildare County Council, being the Planning Authority for the area, proposes to prepare a Local Area Plan for Athy.  A Local Area Plan is a statutory document that sets out the land use strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of the area. To assist this process an “Issues Paper” has been prepared which identifies the key planning issues that may be addressed in the Draft Athy Local Area Plan. Kildare County Council invites submissions from interested parties in relation to the Issues Paper.

As a first step Kildare County Council is inviting interested parties to identify ‘bigger picture’ issues that need to be addressed in the Local Area Plan. There are two key components to this pre-draft consultation process:

  • An invitation to make submissions and,
  • A public consultation session which has been scheduled to be held at the Athy Community Library, (Former Dominican Church), Convent Lane, Athy on Tuesday 10  April from 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.

A copy of the Issues Paper may be inspected during opening hours from Tuesday 20 March 2018 to Tuesday 24 April 2018 inclusive at the following locations:

  • Planning Office, Kildare County Council at the address below Athy Community Library, (Former Dominican Church), Athy
  • Athy Municipal District Office, Rathstewart, Athy, Co. Kildare
