Overnight Closures M4 Westbound J6-7


(Overnight Closures)



Kildare County Council, on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland, gives notice, in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, that it intends to close:

  • The M4 Westbound between Junction 6 (Celbridge) and Junction 7 (Maynooth)

Dates of the closure:

Tuesday, 3 September  to Friday, 20 September 2019                                    

Hours of closure:

Sunday to Friday nights: 10.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m.

Saturday nights: 10.00 p.m. to 7.00 a.m.

The closure is required to facilitate the resurfacing of the pavement.

M4 Diversion route:

Divert from the M4 at Junction 6 (Celbridge), take the second exit from the roundabout onto the R449. Proceed along the R449 and, at the roundabout, take the second exit onto the R405. Continue along the R405 for approximately 1.5km. At the T-junction, take a right turn and proceed along the R405 for approximately 2km.  At the traffic lights, take a left turn onto the R406 and continue straight for approximately 1km. Traffic to then take the right turn, joining the M4 Motorway using the westbound merge slip ramp. 

Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the council and An Garda Síochána.

Emergency access will be allowed at all times.

Any objections/observations should be lodged in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Roads, Transportation and Public Safety, Level 4, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas on or before 5.00pm on Monday, 29 July 2019.
