Notice of Transboundary Environmental Public Consultation

Under the terms of EU Directive 2011/92/EU on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment (the EIA Directive) and the 1991 United Nations Convention on environmental impact in a transboundary context (the Espoo Convention), Member States are required to engage in transboundary public consultation in respect of projects likely to have significant effects on the environment of neighbouring States as part of the environmental impact assessment of a proposed development.

Each planning authority in Ireland has received information relating to the development of Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Plant, which is understood to be under construction near Bridgwater, Somerset, UK.

The UK’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (DBEIS) invites comments on the environmental information on Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Plant. Observations/Submissions to be sent to your local Council or emailed to beiseip@beis.gov.uk before close of business Tuesday 17 April 2018.
