Stop Zebra Mussels Leaflets & Car Window Stickers

Zebra Mussels and other alien invaders are threatening many of Ireland's inland waterways. Many nuisance invasive species arrive in Ireland due to the increase in global travel and transport. The introduction of non-native nuisance species can spell disaster for waterways mainly by affecting native flora and fauna. For further information please see www.alienspecies.ie. The awareness campaign is co-ordinated by the Western Region Zebra Mussel Control Initiative.

Stop the Spread of Aquatic Invasive Species Leaflets

This leaflet is aimed at gardeners, aquarists and garden centre owners. Many people are unaware of the adverse consequences that invasive water plants may have in the environment if they accidentally or othewise 'escape' from their water feature into rivers, lakes and streams. This campaign advises people to buy non-invasive plants (as indicated on the leaflet). The awareness campaign is co-ordinated by the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Task Force.

You can read more about AIS and can view a map of Zebra Mussel infested sites in Ireland on the following website
