The Waste Tyre Regulations 2008 came into effect on 1st January 2008. These regulations are designed to promote the environmentally sound management of waste tyres.

The Regulations impose obligations on persons who supply tyres to the Irish market, whether as manufacturers, wholesalers, suppliers, traders, or retailers and on the collectors of waste tyres.

They must register with the approved body, Tyre Recovery Activity Compliance Scheme (  www.tracsireland.ie ) or register with the local authority.

Failure to register with either TRACS or a Local Authority is an offence under the Regulations and may result in legal proceedings taken against you by the Local Authority.
