The results of the National TIdy Towns Competition were announced in Dublin Castle on Monday 4th September 2006.

Kill were removed from their "top of the county" position for the first time in over 20 years by Rathangan who scored 266 points to Kill's 261.  Congratulations to Rathangan and well done to Kill for their long running success.  Newbridge came third in the county with 253 points.

A SuperValu Endeavour Award went to Kildangan who improved by nearly 12% on their last year's performance with a score of 221.

Kildare's best new entry was Celbridge with 198 marks and we welcome them back into the competition along with Eadestown and Kilcock.

A prize giving ceremony will take place locally at the end of October.

On 2nd NOvember 2006 Mayor Fionnuala Dukes presented prizes to the 33 Kildare Tidy Towns Groups at a function in the Council Chamber at Aras Chill Dara.

Cheques were awarded to the county winner Rathangan, winners in each electoral area and the most improved towns in each electoral area.  Celbridge were awarded a cheque as the best new entrant and each town received an incentive grant to encourage them to continue with their efforts09/11/06 - Photo 1
