TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
ROADS ACT 1993
NOTICE OF INTENTION
The Council hereby gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994, that it intends to close to vehicular traffic :
(1) The roads to the south of Emily Square behind and to the west of the Town Hall including the junction with the R417 Carlow Road and as far as Barrow Quay with its intersection with N78,
(2) Barrow Quay between River Barrow and Emily Square and the back square,
(3) The road to the west of Emily Square including the junction with the N78 Athy/Kilcullen road, and the road to the south of Emily Square (at the front of the Town Hall) including the junction with the R417 Carlow Road,
from 18:00hrs on Friday 29th May 2009 to 10:00hrs on Sunday 31st May 2009.
The closures are necessary in order to facilitate the holding of the TriAthy triathlon (www.triathy.com) and in the interest of public safety. Emergency vehicle access will be accommodated.
Alternative routes will be put in place in accordance with the concurrent road closure being advertised by Kildare County Council (www.kildarecoco.ie) also to facilitate this event.
Any objections/observations should be lodged in writing to the Town Clerk, Athy Town Council, Rathstewart, Athy, Co. Kildare on or before 12.30pm on Monday, 11 May 2009.
