Notice of Intention to Make Bye-Laws

Athy Town Council (Control of the Consumption & Possession of Intoxicating Liquor in Public Places) 2010

Athy Town Council proposes to make bye-laws under the Local Government Act 2001 (Part 19), for the control of consumption and possession of alcohol in public places in Athy.  These proposed bye-laws include provision for the serving of a notice on a person found to be in contravention, specifying a fixed payment to be paid, the non-payment of which will result in a prosecution in respect of any offence committed.  It is intended to revoke and replace the Athy Urban District Council (Control of Alcohol Bye Laws 1999) by the new Bye-Laws as described above.

A draft of the proposed bye-laws will be available for inspection at the offices of Athy Town Council at the address below during normal opening hours.

The draft will be on display from Friday, the 27th November, 2009 to Friday, the 8th January, 2010.  Copies are available, on payment of a fee of €2.00, on application to Athy Town Council.

Submissions in relation to the proposed bye-laws may be sent in writing to the Town Clerk at the address below and any such submission received before 4.00p.m. on Friday, the 22nd January, 2010 will be considered before the making of the bye –laws.
