Community & Voluntary Sector Representation
The Athy Joint Policing Committee was established in 2006 (under the Garda Siochana Act 2005) and provides a forum where the Town Council and the Gardai, with the participation of local Oireachtas members and community/ voluntary sector interests, can consult, discuss, and make recommendations on matters affecting the policing of Athy. The JPC currently has eighteen members and includes two members representing the community/ voluntary sector.
At the December JPC meeting, it was agreed that expressions of interest from the local community & voluntary sector in the town to have an additional member on the Committee would be invited. Interested person(s) or groups should apply in writing (outlining proposed nominees’s areas of interest and experience) on or before Tuesday, 19th January, 2010. Submissions should be sent to the Town Clerk, Athy Town Council, Rathstewart, Athy, Co.Kildare.
