Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of Athy Town Council will convene on Monday, 15th June, 2009 at 7.30pm in the Town Council Chamber, Rathstewart, Athy, Co. Kildare at which the first business of the newly elected council will be the election of its Cathaoirleach and Leas- Cathaoirleach. This meeting is the first meeting of the newly elected council following the local elections held on Friday 5th June, 2009.
Local authorities by virtue of their democratic mandate make appointments to a range of bodies. Athy Town Council by virtue of its democratic mandate makes appointments to the following bodies-
County Kildare Vocational Education Committee, Irish Public Bodies Mutual Insurances Ltd. (IPBMI), Athy Heritage Company Ltd., the Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland (AMAI), Athy Investment, Development & Employment Forum (AIDEF), County Kildare Travellers Consultative Committee and Athy Joint Policing Committee and Strategic Policy Committee (SPC). In addition, nominations to the following Council Sub-Committees will also be considered- Arts, Athy Tidy Towns, Athy Action for Youth, Cemeteries (St. Michael’s) and Town Twinning.
At this annual meeting the Council will consider the making of appointments (councillor and non councillor where appropriate) to these bodies. It should be noted however that appointments to some, under the relevant statutory or other provisions applicable or at the Council’s discretion, may fall to be considered and made at a later date to the annual meeting.
