Advance plans for St. Patrick's Day Parade
Athy's 2012 St. Patrick's Day Parade will be bigger and brighter than ever, with no less than 3 Pipe Bands confirming their participation. The Athy Town Promoters Group are calling on all community, sporting and cultural organisations in the town and surrounding areas to join them to help showcase the best South Kildare has to offer. In addition, a special appeal is being made to local businesses to take part and join in the town's annual parade, which attracts thousands of visitors for one of the region's best family events.
The Athy Town Promoters Group was formed in 2009 and is committed to proactively promoting the 'Celebrate Athy' theme through festivals and events in our town. The group is comprised of representatives of Athy Chamber, Shop Athy, Athy Town Council, Athy Tidy Towns, Age Action, Brand Athy and the Athy Heritage Centre-Museum. The organisers acknowledge the grateful assistance of the Kildare County Show Committee, Athy Gardai, Civil Defence and the Order of Malta.
Entry forms to participate in the parade are now available from Margaret Walsh at the Athy Heritage Centre Museum (Tel.: 059 8633075/ email: athyheritage@eircom.net).
