Operation and maintenance of the Public Water Supply System
Athy Town Council maintains Public Water Supply Schemes which deliver approximately 1.8 million litres of water every day. Most of the water comes from boreholes and sources within the Town.
Drinking waters are monitored in accordance with the requirements set down under European Communities (Quality of water intended for Human Consumption) Regulations 1988.
Charges for water supplied to commercial premises are made on the basis of the quality delivered and are reviewed each year.
With effect from January 1997 there is no charge for domestic water supplies.
Water charges can be paid directly to the Council’s revenue collectors, or by bank giro, or at the Council’s offices. Further details of the payment methods are supplied with bills.
