The main objectives of the Film Development Programme include but are not limited to:
The promotion of new and the maintenance of our existing partners i.e. The School of English, Media and Theatre Studies NUI Maynooth, Access Cinema and Filmbase
Through Maynooth Film for All: Film Club to facilitate the opportunity for local audiences to see a range of the best Irish, independent, art house and classic cinema
Supporting film in school curricula to reflect the significance of visual culture and the promotion of moving image culture for young audiences
Through the arts in education programme ‘If I had an Artist for a Day..’ the inclusion of filmmaking workshops targeting primary school children
Consider development opportunities following on from the Transition Year aimed ‘Impact Project’ which encouraged young people to respond visually using digital media / animation to a book which had an effect on them.
Facilitating the creation of new work by local film makers through the annual FILM BURSARY AWARD
Creating networking and peer support opportunities for local filmmakers through events, seminars etc…
Our audiences have been delighted to meet a widely diverse range of film industry personalities and gain insights in to every area of the film world including perspectives from directors, producers, screenwriters and actors such as Aisling Walsh (Song for a Raggy Boy), Joel Conroy (Waveriders), Jimmy Murphy, Donal O’Kelly (Kings) and Edward King (IFI’s Horrorthon).
