Culture Night/Play Day Kildare Coordinator 

Contract for Services

Kildare County Council seek applications for the role of Culture Night/Play Day Coordinator.  This contract for services is a part time role, from February 2015 to September 2015. The total fee, including expenses is €5,000 depending on work start date and availability.

Responsibilities

The Culture Night/Play Day coordinator will work closely with Kildare County Council Arts and Parks Services to programme events to take place on Friday 19th (Culture Night), Saturday 20th (Play Day) and Sunday 21st September 2015.

The Coordinator will have primary responsibility for:

  • Review of Culture Night/Play Day Kildare in 2014 and previous years
  • Strategic planning and development
  • Preparation of funding applications and financial management including reporting and evaluation
  • Delivering of the project within budget, on schedule and in line with key objectives;
  • Liaising with existing Culture Night /Play Day participants and seeking out new participants and programmes/events
  • Coordination of the Culture Night and Play Day participants and programme
  • Compiling an information brochure and other publicity materials
  • Marketing the event to a broad audience using traditional and new media;
  • Compliance with health & safety requirements, approval from relevant statutory agencies, contractual issues and legal matters;

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2 yrs experience in project or event management;
  • Experience in financial control and managing budgets
  • Cultural and/or arts marketing experience;
  • Proven planning and administration skills;
  • Ability to cope with a variety of tasks at once, and work to tight schedules;
  • Proven understanding of Health and Safety regulations for events;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Experience of event evaluation and providing written reports;
  • Demonstrable working understanding of third-party contracts and agreements.

Desirable Skills

  • A working knowledge of the cultural and arts sector in Kildare
  • Experience of managing events;
  • Experience of creating opportunity and networking
  • Access to own transport

To be short-listed for interview applicants must demonstrate how they fulfill all of the essential criteria.  If too many candidates fulfill the essential criteria to allow effective interviews then the appointment panel may narrow the selection by taking into account the degree to which a candidate’s experience, skills and attributes are superior to those requirements and the extent to which they fulfill the desirable requirements.
